Every time you go out on your bike, the roads and weather are causing a barrage of problems. Rain, hail and wind, and gravel and stones can cause scratches and marks and rub off the shine from the paintwork.

Riding behind other vehicles means the tank is subjected to a stream of gravel, loose stones and other debris thrown up from the roads. Highways that are in poor condition or roadworks mean even greater problems.

The weather can be problematic too, particularly in winter. Rain, hailstones, wind and snow can all cause damage.

With the tank being so exposed, scratches and marks are easily formed, and repairs can be expensive.
